Collaboration Gives Academy New Dimension

Another first for our Academy – SS Mary and John’s with St. Michael’s jointly entered the City athletics multi skills competition. Such was the pool of talent, we entered two teams of 10 (5 boys/ 5 girls) to compete. Jude, Nathan, Shay, Calvin,Brodey, Millie, Thelma, Tia, Gabriella and Holly were on one mixed team. Faye, Kareena, Gracie, Niamh, Keira, Tarell, Gareth, Tegan, Aidan and Jake were the other team. The children competed fantastically across a number of disciplines from sprinting, throwing, jumping and speed bounce! Everyone gave their all and when the final results were tallied, we finished 1st and 5th respectively. A massive achievement considering they had never worked together before. Mrs Dawes was extremely proud of all the kids and supported them throughout the competition. A massive thank you to all parents and family for helping with transport, it was really appreciated.

The week ended with even more success, with the football team putting 7 past Woodthorne Primary without reply. Nathan got the first and hotshot Declan weighed in with 6 more! That’s 64 goals in 5 games with none conceded, a record for the Academy.
